The result
Teijsen BV passed the 2025 IFS Food audit at Higher Level with a score of 98.78 %. The audit was carried out by LRQA France SAS against IFS Food Version 8. The certified scope is the processing of natural casings, meaning soaking, salting and chilling, and the packing of natural casings in bulk and wholesale packaging. The certificate is valid until 31 May 2026.
Higher Level is the top grade in the IFS Food system. It is awarded only when the auditor finds no major non-conformities and the overall score exceeds the Higher Level threshold. A score of 98.78 % means the site met almost every requirement in full, from personal hygiene and pest control to traceability tests and foreign-body management.
What is audited in Zeewolde
The audit follows a casing through the building. Inbound lots are checked against the specification and logged with their origin. Storage is temperature controlled. Make-up into salted bundles in nets, soft tubes or easy fill happens on cleaned, documented lines. Packing in barrels, E2 crates or buckets is recorded per lot so that any container can be traced back to its source plants.
The auditor tests these records on the day. A traceability exercise, for instance, asks the team to trace one barrel back to its inbound lots and forward to the customer within a set time. The 2025 audit confirmed that these systems work as described. Read how this fits into our wider approach on the quality page.
Commitment, in practice
Teijsen BV remains dedicated to maintaining a food-safety system that serves two groups: the sausage producer who buys the casings, and the consumer who eats the sausage. The annual IFS Food audit is how we prove that commitment rather than claim it. The 2025 certificate follows the 2022, 2023 and 2024 certifications and is available on our downloads page.
