What a pork by-product has to deliver
In China a pork foot, hock or head is not a by-product; it is a product with its own price and its own quality standard. The buyer judges it on three things. Approval: the plant must be PRC-approved for pork, or the goods do not clear. Specification: trim, weight range and cleaning must match what the local market pays for. Consistency: the fifth container must look like the first. Teijsen sources on all three, from plants we know, with specifications confirmed per lot.
How we source
- Approved plants. Only slaughterhouses on the PRC approval list for pork, mainly in Europe and South America. Many also supply the hog casings we select in our own facility; see the production page.
- Item specification. Each of the nineteen regular items is specified per lot: trim, weight range, cleaning, packing.
- Documentation. Plant approval and shipment documents accompany every container.
- Import into China through our own company, with delivery to the final buyer.
The chain runs under IFS Food Higher Level, 96.18 % in the 2026 audit.
