Why two sites
Selection is labour-intensive and belongs close to the raw material. Inspection, documentation and export belong close to the customer and the ports. Teijsen therefore selects in Shaoshan and ships from Zeewolde. The Dutch site sits between Amsterdam and Rotterdam, with the transport infrastructure a 200-plus-container-a-month operation needs.
Shaoshan: from raw material to selected end
Salted raw casings arrive from the slaughter plants. They are desalted, measured against a calibre gauge and sorted by hand into 2 mm steps and by length. XXL hog material of 14 metres and more is the specialism. The plant built in 2020 treats its own wastewater and houses its workers on site. Read how this feeds into the five-step quality process.
Zeewolde: the last check before your cold store
Each lot that arrives in Zeewolde is checked against its specification and stored chilled. Packing follows your preference: barrels, easy fill E2 crates or buckets. Containers are loaded as FCL and documented for your market. The full story of how the family came to build here is on the history page.
