About Teijsen

In short

Teijsen B.V. is a family-owned company that sources, produces, selects and sells natural casings and meat by-products from Zeewolde, the Netherlands.

Karel Johan Teijsen started the first family casing business at the Amsterdam slaughterhouse in 1928. The third generation, Karel, Jeroen, René and Simone Teijsen, built the previous family company into an international market leader in hog casings and by-products, left it in 2014 and founded Teijsen B.V. in 2016.

In 2023 the fourth generation, Ruben Teijsen and Nick Fiere, became co-shareholders. The group employs more than 300 people, ships over 200 full container loads a month and is certified IFS Food Higher Level (96.18 %, 2026).

Our principle is quality over quantity: a wide range of casings, extremely long-end material in salted bundles or soft tubes, and the flexibility to produce every requested specification and make-up. Meet the team or read the history.

Quality over quantity

A wide range, selected narrowly.

Teijsen does not try to ship the most casings. It ships casings that run: hog casings selected to 2/4 mm in XXL lengths of 14 metres and more, sheep casings in 2 mm steps on soft tubes, beef rounds, middles and caps in salted bundles. Because we own the selection facility in Shaoshan, we can produce every requested specification and make-up, fast and flexibly. Every lot is checked again in Zeewolde under IFS Food Higher Level.
How we select
Hand selection of natural hog casings against a calibre gauge
As a sausage producer, we are very happy with the constant quality of Teijsen casings. They offer us a regular and very strict selection, where the 14 metre/+ on soft tubes works fantastically in our automatic filling line.

Who we are

Teijsen B.V. is the family company of the Teijsen family, in natural casings since 1928. The business is run from Zeewolde, the Netherlands, by the third and fourth generation together with a management team of long-standing colleagues. Jeffrey Zaal leads the company as CEO and CFO, Simone Fiere-Teijsen as Managing Director. René Teijsen, CEO until May 2025, remains Senior Advisor. The team page lists who you will speak to in sales, purchase, finance, logistics and production.

What we stand for

Quality, service and expertise in a traditional way. In practice that means hand selection in our own facility, specifications per lot instead of general promises, and a sales team that follows up a sample on your line. We prefer a narrow selection to a large volume. The numbers follow: more than 50 countries, more than 200 full container loads a month, IFS Food Higher Level at 96.18 %.

Where we come from

The first Teijsen casing company started at the Amsterdam slaughterhouse in 1928. Its successor grew into an international market leader in hog casings and by-products under the third generation. In 2016 the family started again in Zeewolde and, the same year, in China. The history page tells that story year by year, from 1928 to the 2026 IFS audit.
