What a pet treat has to be
A good beef chew is judged on three things. Origin: the by-product must come from an inspected, approved plant, with a known lot. Purity: one ingredient, beef, with nothing added, so the label stays short and the allergen story stays simple. Consistency: the same item, in the same size range, container after container. Teijsen produces its pet treats inside the same chain as its natural casings, which is where all three come from.
How we produce
- Raw material from our own chain. Pizzles, ears, bullies, throats, tracheas, gullets, backstrap, bladders, beef rounds, middles and caps, tipbones, tailbones and tails arrive from the same approved plants that supply our casings. Several of these items, such as beef rounds, middles and caps, you will also recognise from our beef casings.
- Selection and drying per item, to a specification set with you: size range, drying method, moisture target.
- Packing in bulk or to your specification, confirmed per lot.
- Inspection and shipping under IFS Food Higher Level, 96.18 % in the 2026 audit, in full container loads. See the production page for how both sites work.
Why by-products make better business
Every item in this range would otherwise be considered waste or rendering material. Drying it into a treat gives the by-product a value, the plant a better return and the pet a chew of pure beef. For a brand or distributor it means a single-ingredient line with a straightforward origin story. Specifications and availability are confirmed per lot, so tell our sales team which items and sizes you need, or start with the enquiry form.
