What the 2026 audit covered
An IFS Food audit checks the whole chain inside the building, not a single department. For Teijsen BV the certified scope is the processing of natural casings (soaking, salting, chilling) and the packing of natural casings in bulk and wholesale packaging. That is precisely the work done in Zeewolde: inbound inspection of selected casings from our facility in Shaoshan and from partner plants, storage under temperature control, make-up into salted bundles, soft tubes or easy fill, and packing in barrels, E2 crates or buckets before a container closes.
The 2026 audit was carried out by LRQA France SAS against IFS Food Version 8. The outcome was Higher Level, the top grade in the IFS system, with a score of 96.18 %. The certificate is valid until 31 May 2027.
Why Higher Level matters for your line
Most sausage producers who buy natural casings are themselves certified under IFS Food, BRCGS or FSSC 22000. Their auditors ask for supplier approval evidence. A current IFS Food certificate at Higher Level answers that question in one document: hygiene, traceability, allergen management, foreign-body control, HACCP and food-defence have all been checked on site by an independent body.
It also fixes a routine. Every lot that arrives in Zeewolde is checked against its specification, logged and traceable back to the plant of origin before it is released for make-up. The audit does not create that discipline; it verifies that it is in place every working day. Read more about how we work on our quality page.
Five years in a row
Teijsen BV was first certified under IFS Food in 2022 and has renewed the certificate every year since, in 2023, 2024 and 2025. The 2026 certificate continues that series. You can download the current certificate on the downloads page, and your sales contact will add it to any specification pack or sample request on request.
