In short

Teijsen B.V. is a Dutch family business that sources, selects and exports natural casings and meat by-products from Zeewolde, the Netherlands.

The family has worked in casings since 1928; the fourth generation joined as shareholders in 2023.

We supply natural hog, sheep and beef casings for sausage production, frozen meat by-products and pet treats to customers in more than 50 countries, at a rate of over 200 full container loads a month.

Casings are selected in our own facility in Shaoshan, Hunan, and checked again in Zeewolde before shipment. Our specialism is long-end material: hog casings in XXL lengths of 14 metres and more, selected to a 2/4 mm calibre tolerance.

Processing and packing in Zeewolde are certified IFS Food Higher Level, 96.18 % in the March 2026 audit. Ask for a sample in your calibre; it ships within days.

  1. Sourcing

Raw casings from slaughter plants we audit ourselves in Europe, North America, China, Australia, New Zealand and South America. Origins are never mixed.

  2. Desalting and grading in Shaoshan

Every end is desalted, measured against a calibre gauge and sorted into 2 mm steps in our own facility, Hunan Divine Foodstuff Technology.

  3. Length sorting

XXL material of 14 metres and more is separated from standard lengths. Long ends mean fewer stops on your automatic filling line.

  4. Make-up

Salted bundles in nets, soft tubes or easy fill, to the specification you send us. Other make-ups on request.

  5. Inspection and packing in Zeewolde

Each lot is checked again on arrival in the Netherlands, packed in barrels, E2 crates or buckets and shipped FCL under IFS Food Higher Level.

Calibre

The right calibre for every sausage.

Bratwurst in 28/30 to 32/34 mm hog casing. Hot dogs and merguez in 20/22 to 24/26 mm sheep casing. Salami in beef middles. Our casing calibre guide matches calibre, species and sausage type in one table, and the knowledge base covers preparation, storage and make-up.

Heritage

Four generations, one craft.

Karel Johan Teijsen started preparing casings at the Amsterdam slaughterhouse in 1928. His grandchildren refounded the company in Zeewolde in 2016 and built their own selection facility in Shaoshan in 2020. Since 2023 the fourth generation shares the ownership. Read the full history from 1928 to today.

Our history
As a sausage producer, we are very happy with the constant quality of Teijsen casings. They offer us a regular and very strict selection, where the 14 metre/+ on soft tubes works fantastically in our automatic filling line.

What you buy from Teijsen

Natural casings that run. Hog casings selected to a 2/4 mm tolerance, in XXL lengths up to 14 metres and more per end. Sheep casings at AA, A and AB quality in 2 mm steps, mostly on soft tubes. Beef rounds, middles and caps from South America, in salted bundles. Each lot traceable to its slaughter plant, each container checked in Zeewolde before it closes. Alongside the casings we export frozen pork, beef and other meat by-products and pet treats from the same approved supply chain.

Why the casing decides how your line runs

A filling line stops every time an operator loads a new end. A 14-metre end halves those stops compared with standard lengths. A casing selected within 2 mm keeps the diameter of every sausage within specification and the stuffer pressure stable. That is why Teijsen selects by hand in its own facility in Shaoshan and specialises in long-end material. The quality page shows the five steps from plant to container; the knowledge base explains why long-end casings pay back on the line.

How to start

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Specifications are confirmed per lot. Ask for the current datasheet.

What is the minimum order quantity for natural casings?

Order quantities are agreed per lot and per make-up. Most customers buy by the barrel, E2 crate or full container load. Tell us your calibre, length and volume and sales will confirm what is available.

Can I get a sample before I order?

Yes. Use the sample form and state species, calibre, length, make-up and your sausage type. Samples ship within days and our sales team follows up on the result on your line.

How quickly can you deliver?

That depends on the specification and your port. Standard calibres in salted bundles or soft tubes are usually available from stock in Zeewolde; special selections are produced to order in Shaoshan. Ask for the current position per lot.

Which markets do you supply?

More than 50 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa, at a rate of over 200 full container loads a month. Documentation follows the import requirements of your country.
