The 2023 result
Teijsen BV passed the IFS Food audit again in 2023, with a score of 99.30 % at Higher Level. The certificate is valid until May 2024. The certified scope is the processing of natural casings (soaking, salting, chilling) and the packing of natural casings in bulk and wholesale packaging.
The score matches the result of our first audit in 2022. That is the point of a second audit: it shows that the system did not run well for one week before an inspection but is part of how the site operates every day.
Inside the scope
The IFS Food scope in Zeewolde begins when a selected, salted casing arrives from our facility in Shaoshan or from a partner plant, and ends when the container door closes. In between, the auditor looks at the practical details that decide food safety for a natural product. Is the salt condition of each lot checked on arrival. Are storage temperatures logged. Are make-up lines for salted bundles, soft tubes and easy fill cleaned and documented between products. Does every barrel, E2 crate or bucket carry a lot number that traces back to the slaughter plant.
Those are the same questions your own quality manager asks about any supplier. The certificate lets you answer them with one document. See the quality page for how selection in China and inspection in Zeewolde fit together.
Why we audit every year
Natural casings are a food ingredient, and the sausage producer who buys them carries the responsibility towards the end consumer. Annual IFS Food certification is how Teijsen BV shares that responsibility in a verifiable way. The 2023 certificate can be downloaded on the downloads page. If you are approving Teijsen as a new supplier, request the certificate together with a sample in your calibre and your sales contact will send both.
