In short

Teijsen BV passed the IFS Food audit in 2022 and is certified until April 2023.

The score was Higher Level, 99.30 %. The audit scope is the processing (soaking, salting, chilling) and packing of natural casings in bulk and wholesale packaging at our site at Ambachtsweg 34 in Zeewolde, the Netherlands.

Higher Level is the top grade in the IFS Food system and is only awarded when no major non-conformity is found and the overall score is above the Higher Level threshold.

For sausage producers who buy natural casings under their own IFS Food, BRCGS or FSSC 22000 system, the certificate serves as supplier-approval evidence. It confirms that hygiene, traceability, HACCP and foreign-body control in Zeewolde have been checked on site by an independent auditor.

The result

Teijsen BV passed the IFS Food audit in 2022 with a score of 99.30 % at Higher Level. The certificate is valid until April 2023. The certified scope is the processing of natural casings, meaning soaking, salting and chilling, and the packing of natural casings in bulk and wholesale packaging.

Higher Level is the top grade in the IFS Food system. It requires an overall score above the Higher Level threshold and no major non-conformity. A score of 99.30 % means that of the several hundred requirements checked, almost every one was met in full on the day of the audit.

What the auditor checks in Zeewolde

The audit follows the product through the building at Ambachtsweg 34. Salted, selected casings arrive from our facility in Shaoshan, China, and from partner plants. Each lot is checked against its specification on arrival: calibre, length class, salt condition and origin documents. Storage is temperature controlled and logged. Make-up into salted bundles in nets, soft tubes or easy fill takes place on cleaned, documented lines. Packing in barrels, E2 crates or buckets is recorded per lot.

The auditor then tests the system. A traceability exercise asks the team to trace one packing unit back to its inbound lots and the plant of origin, and forward to the customer, within a set time. Staff hygiene, pest control, calibration of scales and thermometers, allergen management and foreign-body control are checked on the floor, not only in the manual.

What it means for your purchasing file

Most of our customers are themselves certified under IFS Food, BRCGS or FSSC 22000 and must document how they approve suppliers. A current IFS Food certificate at Higher Level, with a scope that matches the product you buy, answers that question in one document.
