Six days in Frankfurt
IFFA in Frankfurt am Main is where the meat and protein industry meets. From 14 to 19 May 2022 Teijsen was there with a stand and a full sales team. We look back at an amazing and very successful week: existing customers came by to discuss the coming season, potential customers from markets we had only served through importers introduced themselves, and friends from the casing trade stopped for a coffee.
The Teijsen aprons helped. Recreating the image of our mascot, they made the team recognisable in a crowded hall and started more conversations than any brochure.
What producers asked about
Three subjects came up at nearly every meeting. First, long-end material: producers running automatic filling lines wanted hog casings of 14 metres and more per end and sheep casings on soft tubes of 7 to 16 metres, because fewer ends mean fewer stops. Second, calibre consistency: the standard 2/4 mm selection tolerance, and whether tighter selections are possible for lines that demand a uniform diameter. Third, make-up: salted bundles in nets versus soft tubes versus easy fill E2 crates, and what each means for rinsing time and shelf life.
The answers are on our product pages for hog casings, sheep casings and beef casings, and in more depth in the knowledge base.
After the fair
The sales team follows up every conversation from Frankfurt, usually with a sample in the producer’s own calibre. The same routine is open to anyone who did not make it to the stand. Specify calibre, length, make-up and sausage type on the sample form, and the sample ships within days. We thank everyone who visited, and we look forward to the next IFFA.
