Who joins
Ruben Teijsen and Nick Fiere have joined as co-shareholders of the Teijsen Group. Neither is new to the business. Both have fulfilled a management position in the group for several years, in daily contact with slaughter plants, the selection facility in Shaoshan and customers in more than 50 countries. The shareholding formalises a role they already carry.
Four generations, one craft
The Teijsen family has prepared natural casings for the sausage industry since 1928, when Karel Johan Teijsen started at the Amsterdam slaughterhouse. The second and third generations turned a local trade into an export business. In 2016 the family re-founded Teijsen BV and built the current site at Ambachtsweg 34 in Zeewolde; the foundation stone was laid on 1 April 2016. In 2020 the group opened its own selection facility, Hunan Divine Foodstuff Technology, in Shaoshan, China.
The Teijsen Group today is a global player in the processing and distribution of natural casings, meat products, pet treats and pharmaceutical products. Natural casings remain the core: hog, sheep and beef casings, selected by calibre and length and shipped from Zeewolde in full container loads. The full story is on the history page.
What it means for customers
A family-owned supplier is judged on continuity as much as on the current lot. With the fourth generation among the shareholders, buyers know who will be on the other side of the table in ten and twenty years. The specifications do not change, the 2/4 mm selection does not change, and the sample routine does not change. What is secured is the ownership behind them. Meet the shareholders and the sales team on the team page, or go straight to the natural casings range.
